Two-Vehicle Crash Statistics

A broadside collision occurs when the front of one vehicle collides with the side of another vehicle at high speed. T-bone crashes and side-impact collisions are other terms for broadside collisions.

According to the National Transportation Highway Safety Administration, T-bone collisions kill around 8,000 people in the United States each year.

The majority of side-impact crashes occur at intersections because a perpendicular flow of cars creates an ideal setting for one to collide into the side of another.

Passengers in the most severe side-impact collisions suffer serious head damage, including traumatic brain injury. They are also vulnerable to upper body trauma, which can cause spinal cord and internal organ injury.

Car accidents occur under numerous circumstances. Many of them involve the negligent or irresponsible behavior of another driver.

With so many vehicles sharing the same roads, traffic congestion, gridlock, and (most seriously) car accidents – both deadly accidents and those resulting in severe injuries – will undoubtedly follow.
