[03-14-2022] Glenn County, CA – Corning Man Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Involving Big Rig at County Road 7

According to the California Highway Patrol, a man identified as 59-year-old Richard S. died in a crash with a big rig in Glenn County on Monday morning, March 14, 2022.

Veron M., a 61-year-old Chico resident, was driving a big rig north on County Road 99W near County Road 7. Smith was driving south on County 99W, just north of County Road 7, in a 2009 Nissan.

McGuire took County Road 7 west, directly into Smith’s path.

McGuire’s vehicle collided with Smith’s Nissan on the left front side.

At the southwest intersection, Smith collided with a power pole.

According to the CHP, Smith was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

According to the CHP, there are no stop signs for northbound or southbound traffic on County Road 99W.
