[03-14-2022] San Bernardino County, CA - 49-Year-Old Man Killed in Suspected DUI Crash in Joshua TreeA 49-year-old man identified as Kevil S. Sr. was killed in a suspected DUI rollover crash in Joshua Tree last month Monday, March 14, 2022.

The collision occurred around 8:40 p.m. near Center Avenue and Shifting Sands.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 24-year-old Joshua Tree man was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker northbound. Spruell Sr. was in the passenger seat.

According to police, the driver turned the Chevrolet unsafely to the left due to his intoxication, causing the vehicle to roll over onto a dirt berm on private property.

They were both thrown around inside the vehicle because neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Following the crash, Spruell Sr. was pronounced dead.

The driver was seriously injured and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in Palm Springs by Morongo Basin Ambulance (MBA). He was arrested, according to the police.

He was tested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and drugs, according to police.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. His injuries are currently being treated at DRMC.
