According to police, two drivers died in a horrific wrong-way crash on the 215 Freeway in Riverside early Tuesday morning, March 15.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol said they received a call about a wrong-way driver.

CHP received multiple calls reporting a head-on collision near Center St. within 60 seconds of the initial report.

Officials say a gray Honda Civic driven by a woman was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided with a gray Ford Fusion driven by a man.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims’ identities are being withheld until their families are notified.

According to CHP investigators, child seats were found in both cars, but the drivers were the only ones inside at the time of the crash.

The lanes were shut down for four hours while officials investigated.
