Bicycle Accident Statistics

Many Americans still prefer to ride on vehicles than on bicycles, despite the fact that laws have been passed to protect them. In the United States, over 800 bicyclists lost their lives due to traffic accidents in 2018. Such disasters are, sadly, nothing new for the Golden State.

There appeared to be a nationwide 20% drop in bicycle accidents between 2016 and 2017, according to the data. As a percentage, bicycle accidents decreased by 12% between 2000 and 2001. The toll from the tragedy, however, only increased.

According to the National Cycling Safety Foundation, 145 persons were killed and 11,116 were injured in bicycle-related accidents in California in 2017.

4.4% of all traffic fatalities in the Golden State of California involved bicycles. In the United States, this is more than the average recorded in other states.

What to Do After a Bicycle Accident

Call the police right away if you or a loved one has been harmed in a bicycle crash. When communicating with law enforcement or an insurance company, it is important to be factual and not make any assumptions. The victim may feel obligated to offer an apology even if they weren’t at fault. As a result of actions like this, insurers can reject claims.
