According to Cal Fire, the fatal crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on North Indian Canyon Drive and Mission Lakes Boulevard.
According to a press release from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, officers responded to the crash scene after receiving reports of a traffic collision.
According to police, a 29-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident was driving southbound in the northbound lane on Indian Avenue in a Ford Focus. A 26-year-old Cathedral City resident was driving northbound in a Dodge Ram pickup.
According to police, the Ram driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so, and both cars collided head-on. According to police, the Ford driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is being investigated by the Major Accident Investigation Team of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.
