[03-19-2022] Three People Injured After a Major Two-Vehicle Crash on SR 299Three people were hurt after a two-vehicle collision on SR 299 on Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2022.

The collision transpired at approximately 1:13 p.m. on SR 299 near Steel Bridge Road in Trinity River.

A westbound Toyota was traveling on SR 299 when the vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed into the left side of a Ford truck trailer.

The Toyota then spun out of control before crashing into the trailer of the Ford. Due to the severity of the impact, the Toyota’s engine and transmission became detached from the vehicle.

The Ford driver was seriously injured in the mishap and was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center.

Meanwhile, a Toyota passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to Trinity General Hospital for treatment. The Toyota driver was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

An active investigation of the mishap is currently underway.
