A 25-year-old woman was injured after getting struck by a suspected DUI driver in Porterville on Saturday night, March 19, 2022.

The suspect drifted off the side and crashed into the 25-year-old woman. Due to the severity of the impact, the woman was thrown to the side.

The victim sustained major injuries in the mishap and was immediately taken to an area hospital for treatment. She was listed in critical condition.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. She was later identified as Melissa W. Authorities then determined that she was under the influence at the time of the accident.

The driver was then arrested and taken into custody. She is currently facing DUI-related charges. The suspect was booked into the Tulare County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
