Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Vehicle collisions cause the majority of accidental deaths and hospitalizations in America. Meanwhile, each year, traffic-related accidents result in the deaths of about two million people and the injuries of an additional ten million worldwide.

The National Safety Council reported that risky behaviors like speeding, drinking and driving, and not using a seat belt contributed to a higher number of fatalities in auto accidents in 2020. Prior to that year’s 8.3% increase, the death rate had been declining for three years in a row. In 2019, automobile accidents in the US resulted in 39,107 fatalities. The number rose to 42,338 in the following year.

In 2020, it was reported that 3,847 people in California lost their lives in automobile collisions. The majority of fatalities (2,260 or 59%) were caused by accidents involving a single vehicle, while almost half (1,587 or 41%) were brought on by collisions involving multiple vehicles.

What Should I Do After an Accident?

A car crash must be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. When answering questions from the police or the insurance company, it is essential to be as factual as possible and to refrain from making any assumptions. A victim’s guilt can lead them to apologize even when they did nothing wrong. Such actions could be used as justification for a claim being denied by the insurer.
