[03-22-2024] 51-Year-Old Woman Killed, Rider Injured Following Motorcycle Crash Along Twentynine Palms HighwayA 51-year-old woman was killed, and a rider was injured following a motorcycle crash near Twentynine Palms on Friday evening, March 22, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. along Highway 62, east of Ironage Road, near Sheephole Valley Wilderness.

A 62-year-old Garden Grove resident named Ronald M. was reportedly traveling eastbound on a Harley-Davidson with his 51-year-old passenger named Terry H.R. from Westminster.

The motorcyclist was driving at a high speed when the road curved, causing him to swerve into the right shoulder, lose control, and overturn.

The passenger was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained injuries. The woman was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where she was declared dead.

The 62-year-old rider was also ejected and hospitalized with minor injuries. Both occupants reportedly were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Authorities dismissed alcohol or drugs as factors in the fatal crash. Investigations are underway.
