[03-23-2022] Inyo County, CA – 47-Year-Old Driver Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Near Lone Pine

According to the California Highway Patrol, the 47-year-old driver of a 2021 Hyundai Elantra died after colliding with a 2012 Freightliner truck south of Lone Pine on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

The CHP said Friday that authorities are still trying to identify the 47-year-old deceased driver.

The Elantra was traveling south when it collided with the Freightliner on the east shoulder of US 395 for an unknown reason.

According to the CHP, the Elantra driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

The 47-year-old Elantra driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Freightliner’s diesel tank was ruptured and spilled as a result of the collision.

The truck driver, a 41-year-old man from Van Nuys, California, was reportedly unharmed.
