One person was killed, and another was critically injured in a fatal DUI crash on northbound Interstate 5 on Wednesday, March 23.

The accident caused the highway to be closed for six hours while authorities investigated.

One person was killed, and another was critically injured in a collision involving a Toyota Prius and another vehicle.

One of the drivers was reportedly arrested on suspicion of intoxication by the California Highway Patrol.

After the crash, the CHP issued a SigAlert, and all northbound lanes were closed.

The traffic was diverted off the expressway at La Costa Boulevard.

All lanes were reopened shortly after 9:30 a.m., according to Caltrans.
