[03-26-2022] Riverside County, CA – Skateboarder Injured After Getting Struck by a Vehicle on Newport Road

One unidentified person was hurt after a pedestrian crash on Newport Road on Saturday night, March 26, 2022.

The accident transpired at approximately 10:50 p.m. the intersection of Newport Road and Berea Road.

The 28-year-old skateboarder was using a sidewalk on the south side of the road. As he approached the intersection, the skateboarder immediately turned into the crosswalk and headed towards the north side of Newport Road.

That’s where he was struck by an oncoming westbound vehicle that had a green light in the No. 2 lane.

The skateboarder was seriously injured in the crash. He was immediately taken to an area hospital for treatment. He was listed in critical condition.

The victim was not wearing reflective clothing or a helmet at the time of the accident. Officers encourage skateboarders to wear safety equipment every time they skateboard on the streets and to be careful when approaching intersections.

An active investigation of the case is currently underway.
