[03-26-2022] Two People Injured Following Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 15Two people were airlifted after a semi collided with the back of another semi on the I-15 freeway in Hesperia on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

The crash occurred at 1:46 a.m. near the Main Street overpass on the southbound I-15.

A tractor-trailer combination collided into the back of the semi at an unknown speed for reasons that are still being investigated, trapping two people.

Firefighters from San Bernardino County arrived on the scene and reported two critical patients who needed to be extricated.

They also requested that two helicopters land at Bishop Avenue and Poplar Street on US Highway 395 east.

One of the injured was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center by Mercy 66, while the other was flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center by Mercy 22. The other semi’s driver escaped injury.

Caltrans was called to the scene because about 30 gallons of diesel and oil were on the road.

The spill was stopped before it reached the shoulder, and no hazmat situation arose.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol conducted a 10-minute traffic stop just north of Bear Valley Road.

The Victorville CHP station is investigating the official cause of the crash.
