[03-26-2023] One Killed, Two Injured After DUI Collision in SalinasA DUI collision killed one person and injured two in Salinas early Sunday morning, March 26, 2023.

According to authorities, the crash transpired around 2:00 a.m. on West Market Street and Villa Street.

Reports indicated that a 32-year-old driver, Annie K., was driving a small SUV eastbound on West Market Street when she collided head-on with a small sedan carrying three men.

Paramedics rushed all three male victims to the hospital and pronounced that a 33-year-old man had succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man was seriously injured but is in stable condition. A 32-year-old was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

According to preliminary evidence gathered from witness statements, the female driver was driving twice the speed limit on West Market Street.

Officials added that the fatal crash could have been avoided, and motorists were advised not to drive if they planned to drink.

The 32-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI charges.
