Fatal Train Accident Statistics

According to National Transportation Safety Board statistics, pedestrians are more likely to die in train collisions than in car collisions. Defective crossings, outdated or missing safety equipment, and inadequate warning systems have all been attributed to numerous train accidents.

Every two hours, trains crash into cars or people. Each year, train accidents claim the lives of over a thousand people. There were 600 fatalities and 2,300 injuries overall.

Among all modes of transportation, trains are among the most effective. Safety for passengers and workers is influenced by a conductor’s ability to repair and how frequently they do so. Passengers are put at risk by carelessness and poor shortcuts.

Since 1997, nearly 7,200 people have perished in train accidents in the United States. More than half of all train-related fatalities on American railroads are caused by collisions with pedestrians.

Derailments, worn-out tracks, disregard for safety regulations, insufficient security, and other types of negligence most frequently cause railway accidents.
