[03-28-2022] Fresno County, CA – Three Good Samaritans Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Manning Avenue

At least two drivers lost control due to a penny-sized hail that blanketed Manning Avenue in Fresno County, just north of Selma, on Monday, March 28, 2022.

The pedestrian crash occurred on a Monday on Manning Avenue in Fresno County.

Storm clouds rolled into the Central Valley, bringing rumbling thunder, flashes of lightning, and torrential rain and hail that made driving dangerous on Monday.

A brown pickup truck was hit by an unknown vehicle, causing it to crash into an almond orchard.

A BMW with four people inside pulled over to assist.

According to CHP Fresno Sgt. Bryan Hunt, they stopped to be Good Samaritans, rendering aid, and they were hit by an out-of-control vehicle on a wet, icy roadway.

The road was too slick for a white Jeep to navigate.

Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after it collided with the people and the BMW.

Officers are on the lookout for the vehicle that hit the pickup truck first.

The rainy weather was mostly an inconvenience for Valley residents. Parking lots were flooded, and there were puddles on the road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a safe speed in the case of crashes near Selma with hail on the road would have been 25 to 30 miles per hour.

They believe some of the vehicles involved were traveling up to 60 miles per hour.
