[03-29-2022] Sacramento County, CA – One Person Killed in a Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash in Elk Grove

An unidentified 53-year-old man was killed following a fatal hit-and-run crash in Elk Grove on Tuesday night, March 29, 2022.

The victim was crossing the intersection when a westbound driver struck the victim on Elk Grove Boulevard. The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash.

The suspect did not stop to render aid and drove away from the scene. But the driver later voluntarily turned himself into the Elk Grove Police Department.

Unfortunately, the 53-year-old man could not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead. His identity has not been disclosed.

The suspect was only identified as a 17-year-old boy. The underage driver was arrested and booked into custody at Juvenile Hall on charges of vehicular manslaughter, hit and run resulting in death, and hit and run resulting in injury.

An active investigation of the case is currently underway. Witnesses that can give more information on the mishap are urged to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
