Fatal Head-On Collision Statistics

Victims of a head-on collision between two automobiles may have life-threatening injuries. Many of these injuries are long-term, and they can cause severe pain and suffering for the remainder of a person’s life. Unfortunately, a head-on collision does not protect everyone.

A head-on collision is one of the most dangerous types of car accidents. Because of the sheer power involved, a head-on collision has a far greater impact than other types of car accidents. A lot of energy is unleashed when two cars meet head-on in a crash like this; the bigger the energy, the greater the risk of fatalities.

An estimated 5 million car accidents occur in the United States every year. Each year, they claim the lives of around 38,000 people. Despite accounting for only 2% of all incidents, head-on collisions are responsible for 10% of all road fatalities in the United States.

Drunk driving, distracted driving, inexperience, and mechanical failure can all contribute to head-on collisions.
