[04-01-2022] San Diego County, CA – One Person Killed, Three Others Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on Dehesa Road

According to authorities, a 64-year-old man was killed, and three others were injured in a suspected DUI crash on a rural road near Singing Hills Golf Course on Friday, April 1, 2022.

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Dehesa Road in the unincorporated Dehesa community east of El Cajon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old La Mesa woman lost control of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata she was driving on Dehesa Road.

The eastbound car struck a boulder, a tree, and a fence after veering off the road near Sycuan Summit Drive, killing one of the three men riding in it, according to CHP public affairs Officer Matthew Baranowski.

The victim’s name has been withheld pending notification of their family.

According to Baranowski, paramedics transported the driver and a 39-year-old passenger to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of severe trauma.

The other man, 29, was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to the CHP, preliminary evidence indicates that the driver, whose identity was not immediately available, was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

According to the spokesman, alcohol and/or drugs are suspected in this crash.
