According to the United States Park Police, the crash happened around 4:00 p.m. along Arguello Boulevard, south of Washington Boulevard.

The victim was Ethan B., who was a world-champion cyclist traveling southbound on Arguello Blvd. when he was struck by a car.

The bicyclist was declared dead, while the other driver sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The public mourned over the death of a 10-time national champion and urged local authorities to explore bike lanes within the area.
