A male motorcyclist was killed on Interstate 10 in Redlands, prompting a SigAlert on Tuesday morning, April 5, 2022.
The fatal crash occurred around 9:00 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway, near Tennessee Street.
According to preliminary reports, the motorcyclist was speeding when he lost control, collided with two vehicles, and was thrown from his burning bike.
He died at the scene of the accident.
His identity will not be revealed until his next of kin has been notified.
Officials were still waiting for the coroner as of 10:40 a.m.
Some westbound lanes were closed by the California Highway Patrol. At least until 11:30 a.m., a SigAlert was expected to be in effect.
Westbound traffic was backed up past Yucaipa Boulevard, but by 12:30 p.m., it had mostly cleared.

It is estimated that 15,527 people were injured, and 541 people died due to motorcycle accidents in California in 2017.
