[04-08-2022] Riverside County, CA – Wrong-Way Driver Killed, Two Others Injured in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Moreno Valley

According to the sheriff’s department, the Nissan sideswiped another vehicle as it approached the intersection of Perris Boulevard and John F. Kennedy Avenue while recklessly swerving in and out of traffic and passing in between vehicles.

The driver continued northbound on Perris Boulevard despite the spike strip being deployed.

A Moreno Valley resident, Brad Harvell, said he was driving south on Perris Boulevard near Iris Avenue when he noticed sheriff’s deputies in patrol cars and a helicopter tailing a car heading north in the southbound lane.

According to Harvell, the car was being driven at a high rate of speed, and the deputies were following at a slower pace.

The Nissan drove through a red signal light at Cactus Avenue and collided with the passenger side of a gray Toyota Tundra traveling eastbound on Cactus Avenue.

According to the news release, both vehicles collided with a cinderblock wall at the intersection’s northeast corner.

The driver and passenger of the truck were injured and taken to the hospital.

According to authorities, the sole occupant of the Nissan, the suspect driver, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity was unknown, and his family had yet to be notified.
