Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Although single-vehicle crashes are among the most lethal in California, many drivers are unaware of this.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 62% of all fatal car accidents in California are caused by one vehicle (NHTSA). Single-vehicle accidents are all too common in California, so drivers must be aware of the many factors that make them happen.

A variety of factors can cause a single-vehicle accident. When a driver loses control while speeding or making sharp turns on a wet, slick road, the result is a run-off-the-road accident. Debris from vehicles, such as large branches or other objects, may end up on the road.

In the event of an accident caused by a deer running out in front of your car, even if the deer was not at fault, the comprehensive coverage of your insurance policy is likely to limit your compensation.
