According to Modesto police, a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Lakewood Avenue on Saturday night, April 9, 2022.
According to Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear, the collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. between Briggsmore and Orangeburg avenues.
Officers arrived on the scene to find the cyclist, Kenneth H., 62, of Modesto, suffering from serious injuries.
Residents and police officers tried to save Hutt’s life, but he died. According to witnesses, the collision with Hutt may have involved two vehicles.
The first is a red Toyota pickup from the 1990s, and the second is a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup from the mid-2000s.
According to a post on the Police Department’s Facebook page on Sunday morning, both trucks appeared to be traveling south on Lakewood when the collision occurred.
Following that, both are said to have turned east onto Orangeburg. One or both pickups could have significant front-end damage, including damage to the windshield.
Officer Randy Raduechel is looking for witnesses to the collision as well as residents in the area who may have surveillance cameras or doorbell cameras that captured the incident or the fleeing vehicles.
