[04-09-2023] Alameda County, CA – Lyft Struck by Speeding Driver in Berkeley, Resulted in Several Injuries

A Lyft got struck by a speeding driver, which resulted in several injuries in Berkeley early Sunday morning, April 09, 2023.

The Berkeley Police Department reported that the crash happened around 3:00 a.m. between University Avenue and San Pablo Avenue.

The Lyft vehicle had four occupants heading east when a white Ford Fusion heading southbound struck them all.

A 28-year-old passenger sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition. The 62-year-old Lyft driver, along with two female passengers and the 20-year-old Ford driver, were sent to a nearby hospital for varying degrees of injuries.

The Ford driver was said to have been going 90 mph and even ran a red light which caused his arrest on suspicion of reckless driving.
