A 37-year-old male worker was killed after a hit-and-run collision in Valley Center, San Diego County, on Wednesday morning, April 10, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 6:55 a.m. in the 14500 block of Cool Valley Road, east of Cole Grade Road.

Reports indicate that the man was directing traffic at a work site when he was hit by a tan Toyota Corolla.

The 37-year-old victim from Fallbrook was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The authorities located the Toyota driver on Thursday. The suspect was identified as a 77-year-old man named Ruperto Jesus L.
