An unidentified 66-year-old man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run collision in the West Los Angeles area on Monday night, April 11, 2022.
According to a news release from the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. on the freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard.
Nearly all lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway were closed following the crash.
According to the CHP, a pedestrian seen running on the shoulder of the freeway was struck and died at the scene.
The deceased was only described as a 66-year-old man and has not been identified.
The reason for the man’s freeway running was unknown.
Officers are on the lookout for the vehicle that caused the accident, which could be a white Toyota sedan.
According to CHP officials, all but one lane on southbound 405 was closed due to the fatal collision investigation.
Due to the closure, traffic was diverted off the freeway and onto Santa Monica Boulevard.
