Fatal Motorcycle Crash Statistics

Motorcycle riders don’t have the same safety features as people who drive cars. They go at the same speed and on the same roads as cars, but they don’t have the same safety features.

Motorcyclists are responsible for 11% of all traffic accidents in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). There were 82,000 motorcycle injuries and 4,985 motorcycle deaths in 2018.

This figure is not unexpected, given that motorcyclists are 16 times more likely to be wounded or killed in a car accident than passengers in enclosed vehicles.

The unfortunate reality is that California is not exactly safe for motorcyclists. With over 800,000 registered motorcycles, California has the most registered motorcycles in the country. In 2017, 16,505 motorcycle accidents occurred on California highways, resulting in 15,527 injuries and 541 fatalities.

Some motorists may have difficulty seeing motorcycles, particularly in the dark. Wearing reflective clothing is an effective approach to attract the attention of other drivers on the road. This may not meet some people’s fashion standards, but avoiding an accident is more vital than making a fashion statement on the road.
