Two-Vehicle Collision Statistics

As a significant city in California, Fresno experiences an unusual number of car accidents in which the victims are severely injured. With a low cost of living index and a quadrant-based street plan, it’s a terrific place to call home.

Nearly 11,000 car accidents occurred in Fresno between 2003 and 2016, alarming for anyone who works or lives in the city.

A rollover collision occurred in this instance. A vehicle flips over onto its side or roof in a rollover crash, resulting in serious injury or death. More people die in rollover accidents than in other types of collisions.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rollover incidents account for around 3% of car accidents. However, rollover or tip-over accidents account for around 35% of passenger vehicle fatalities.

A driver losing control of a vehicle is the most common reason rollover accidents occur. Drivers who fall asleep behind the wheel, use their phones, or engage in other forms of distracted driving may lose focus and control.

That’s all you should be doing while driving. Always keep your eyes on the road and nothing else. Driving is not the time to text, talk on the phone, eat, read, or do anything else that isn’t directly relevant to driving.
