Rollover Crash Statistics

Rollover accidents occur when a vehicle loses its balance on the road and rolls onto its side or top. These accidents may potentially include a car turning over more than once.

In 2017, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) reported 2,750 deaths from rollover accidents. Although it is not the most common car accident, rollovers frequently result in more fatalities than other incidents.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rollover incidents account for about 3% of car accidents. A rollover or tip-over accident, on the other hand, accounts for approximately 35% of all passenger vehicle fatalities.

A sport utility vehicle (SUV), an automobile with a higher risk of rolling over, is the most common cause of a rollover accident. The accident may result in major bodily injury due to the vehicle’s rollover capacity.

The most prevalent cause of rollover accidents is a driver losing control of their car. Drivers who fall asleep behind the wheel, use their phones, or participate in other forms of distracted driving may lose focus and control.

It would help if you always keep your eyes on the road and nothing else as a driver. Driving is not the time to text, talk on the phone, eat, read, or do anything else that isn’t directly related to driving.
