According to the Berkeley Police Department, the serious crash happened just before 10:50 a.m. on San Pablo Avenue, south of Dwight Way.

Reports indicate that a vehicle going southbound on San Pablo struck a bicyclist and pinned him against a parked car, resulting in major injuries.

Police described the victim’s injury as a severed leg after it got caught under the vehicle. Responders immediately sprung into action upon arrival and treated the victim’s leg along with a bystander with medical training.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. He was later identified as 19-year-old Torin W. and was arrested for a separate case related to vehicle theft after a few days.

There is no word yet about the present condition of the victim. His identity, age, and city of residence were not available immediately as well.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
