One person was fatally injured, while two others sustained minor injuries following a tragic crash in Redding on Friday, April 15, 2022.
The collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. near Oasis Road on Interstate 5.
According to the Redding Police Department, the motorcyclist refused to stop and took off at high speed, eventually entering northbound Interstate 5 and traveling south against traffic.
Deputies immediately halted their pursuit of the motorcycle due to its dangerous driving.
The motorcycle continued south, exiting onto North Market Street, and continued to travel against the flow of traffic.
The motorcyclist collided with a white SUV waiting to turn from North Market Street onto eastbound Twin View Boulevard as he approached the intersection of North Market Street and Twin View Boulevard.
There was a driver and a passenger in the SUV. Both people sustained minor injuries and were treated at the hospital.
According to the Redding Police Department, the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the names of all those involved have yet to be revealed.
While officers processed the scene, North Market Street was closed from Lake Boulevard to Caterpillar Road as part of the crash investigation.
