[04-16-2022] Humboldt County, CA – One Person Hurt After a Bicycle Crash in Eureka

One unidentified person was injured after a bicycle accident in Eureka on Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2022.

The traffic collision occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of S and 4th Streets in Eureka.

The rider was reportedly trying to cross the street when a passing vehicle suddenly struck him. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Meanwhile, the rider sustained abrasions to his face and a banged-up knee. He had bruises all over his body and was swollen all over.

Information about the accident is limited at the moment. The identities of the involved party have not been disclosed.

Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the accident.

A bicycle accident can be avoided if the rider wears safety gear and makes themselves more visible to others, such as a bike helmet, bright clothing (during the day), reflective gear, and lights and reflectors on the bike in white and red (at night, or when visibility is poor).
