[04-16-2022] San Luis Obispo County, CA – Two Killed After a Deadly Traffic Crash in Atascadero

The California Highway Patrol has officially released the identities of all parties involved in Sunday’s fatal collision. A total of six people were involved in the collision, 21-year-old Felipe G. was driving the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban that crashed into the parked Chevrolet Cruze, driven by 47-year-old Berenice P. Gonsalez sustained minor injuries. Pineda sustained major injuries.

A total of six people were involved in the collisionTraveling in Pineda’s Cruze were a total of four passengers, 48-year-old Ricardo G., who sustained major injuries, 47-year-old Celene R., who died as a result of the collision, 3-year-old Mia P., who sustained major injuries, and 54-year-old Maria H., who died as a result of the collision. All parties involved in the collision were residents of Santa Maria.

CHP confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The accident happened at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Highway 101 near Santa Barbara Road in Atascadero.

A Chevrolet Cruze and a gray Chevy Suburban collided on the northbound side of Highway 101. The force of the impact propelled the Cruze forward roughly 120 feet and drove it to rotate counter-clockwise before coming to a stop facing south.

The Cruze’s driver and front-seat passenger were seriously injured and were sent to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.

Two people were killed in the crash. Meanwhile, four others sustained unspecified injuries. The identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed.

The California Highway Patrol is further investigating the case.
