[04-17-2022] Tulare County, CA – 36-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal DUI Crash in Visalia

A 36-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 99 near Visalia early Sunday, April 17, 2022.

The call was reportedly about a wrong-way driver near highways 198 and 99.

Officers arrived on the scene to find a two-car accident on Highway 99, just south of Betty Dr.

According to investigators, Jose C., 30, was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 when he collided head-on with a Nissan traveling southbound.

Cabrera was airlifted to Kaweah Health Medical Center with serious injuries, but the Nissan’s 36-year-old driver died on the scene.

According to the CHP, alcohol appears to have played a role in the fatal accident.

Highway 99 was closed for about 2 hours.
