[04-19-2022] Riverside County, CA – One Person Killed After a Fiery Big Rig Crash in Cabazon

A 38-year-old man identified as Jason C. was killed following a fiery big rig collision in Cabazon on early Tuesday morning, April 19, 2022.

An eastbound Toyota Tundra pickup veered off the roadway and struck a series of sand-filled barricades along the right shoulder west of the Main Street off-ramp.

The Toyota Tundra then overturned and was stopped at the freeway; it had no lights on. It was then later struck by an oncoming eastbound Kenworth semi-truck hauling a shipping container.

Due to the severity of the impact, both the car and the big rig caught fire and were fully engulfed in flames.

Unfortunately, the Toyota driver could not exit his vehicle on time and was killed in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the 63-year-old big rig driver was able to jump out of his burning vehicle and was found lying down on the ground at the on-ramp.

Local authorities are actively investigating the factors that may have caused the accident.
