According to police, two teenagers were killed in a crash in which a car came to rest on the sand of Torrey Pines State Beach on Monday, April 25, 2022.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred just before 11:00 p.m. on the sand near the beach parking lot off Torrey Pines Road.
Authorities say a 19-year-old driver lost control of his 2020 Subaru WRX and hit a center median, crashing into a guardrail and crashing onto the beach.
The car hit several rocks before coming to a complete stop in the sand, according to SDPD.
The vehicle’s occupants included two 19-year-olds and two 18-year-olds in addition to the driver.
According to SDPD, two passengers died in the crash, while two others sustained serious injuries such as a lung contusion, ankle fracture, and pelvic/hip fracture.
The driver was only slightly hurt.
The deceased’s names have not been revealed.
