[04-25-2023] Solano County, CA – Construction Worker Severely Injured in Reckless Car Chase on I-80 in Vacaville

A construction worker was severely injured in a reckless car chase in Vacaville on Tuesday morning, April 25, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Interstate 80 at Interstate 780.

As per the report, the collision occurred when an Acura, which was allegedly carjacked, was being pursued by Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office officials.

The Acura was being driven recklessly, prompting the sheriff’s office deputies to stop the chase. Shortly after, the Acura went into a construction zone and collided with a truck and construction worker at Alamo Drive, resulting in the worker being taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

The suspect was identified as Damani M., a 29-year-old resident of Oakland, who sustained minor injuries and fled the scene on foot after leaving the car. He was eventually apprehended and charged with several felony offenses, then subsequently booked into jail.
