[04-26-2023] San Diego County, CA – One Person Hospitalized, More Felt Ill After Being Exposed to Chemicals in Sorrento Valley

One person was hospitalized, and multiple people fell ill after being exposed to chemicals in Sorrento Valley, San Diego, on Wednesday morning, April 26, 2023.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the incident happened around 8:00 a.m. along 3550 Dunhill Street.

About 64 people were forced to evacuate the Biotech building after reports of not feeling well.

At least one person was sent to a nearby hospital after suffering from vomiting, while 19 people suffered from nausea and light-headedness.

The building reportedly used a new floor sealant when it was closed off, which may have spread the chemicals into the air, causing the incident.

A response team was already sent inside to clear the building from contaminants.
