A fatal train crash left one person dead and multiple people injured in Fairfield on Wednesday morning, April 26, 2023.
According to the Fairfield Fire Department, the fatal crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. near East Tabor Avenue and Railroad Avenue.
An Amtrak train reportedly hit a truck which caused a chain collision and damaged at least two other vehicles.
The person inside the truck was killed, and there were other reports of injuries, but the number of people injured is still unknown.
All victims were transported to a nearby hospital after suffering moderate to severe injuries.
The area around East Tabor Avenue was closed off as authorities conducted their investigation.
