[04-26-2023] Two Drivers Killed Following Head-On Crash on Highway 99A head-on crash killed two drivers on Highway 99 in Sutter County on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded around 8:30 p.m. to Highway 99 near Oswald Road, about 5 miles south of Yuba City, where the collision between a 2016 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and a 2016 Toyota RAV4 SUV occurred, according to the CHP Yuba-Sutter Office.

A 74-year-old Brentwood man was driving the pickup when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 69-year-old Yuba City woman’s SUV, which was moving southbound in the fast lane on Highway 99.

CHP officials said the only people inside each vehicle were the drivers. Officers could not locate any direct witnesses to the crash. Both drivers were declared dead at the scene.

The authorities have yet to release further details about the crash and the victims.
