[04-27-2023] San Bernardino County, CA – One Person Killed After Vehicle vs. Semi-Truck Crash on 15 Freeway

One person was killed after a vehicle crashed into a semi-truck on the 15 Freeway in Barstow early Thursday morning, April 27, 2023.

The collision occurred around 3:38 a.m. on southbound Interstate 15 near the Outlet Center Dr. exit in the slow lane. The California Highway Patrol and firefighters from the Barstow Fire Department arrived immediately at the traffic collision.

According to authorities, a semi-tractor trailer collided with a sedan. The semi-truck drove in the slow lane with four thousand pounds of cardboard.

The vehicle’s driver collided with a semi-trailer’s back end. The truck caught fire and quickly became consumed entirely.

According to the CHP traffic log, at least one person was declared dead at the scene. It is unknown if anyone else was killed or injured.

The CHP believes speed played a role in the crash. The authorities have not yet released any further information.
