[04-28-2022] Los Angeles County, CA – Three Officers Injured After a Traffic Crash With a Suspected Drunk Driver

Three officers were hurt after a suspected drunk driver crashed into their vehicle in the Paramount area on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

The accident happened in the Paramount area. The officers initially controlled traffic from a previous crash when an SUV drove through safety flares and crashed into their cruiser.

The SUV was traveling at around 90 mph at the time of the crash. Two officers were inside the vehicle, but they could escape in time before the cruiser caught fire.

The two officers from inside the car were moderately injured in the crash. Meanwhile, a third officer standing outside the cruiser sustained serious injuries. They were all taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The SUV driver was later identified as 41-year-old Lakia J. She was taken into custody and is expected to be booked for DUI-related charges.

Local authorities are further investigating the crash.
