T-Bone Crash Statistics
When the front of one vehicle collides with the side, the collision is called a “T-bone” crash or a broadside collision.
While driving past a stop sign or red light, another vehicle may also be entering the junction simultaneously. This might lead to a “single-car collision.”
According to the National Transportation Highway Safety Administration, about 8,000 people in the United States are killed each year in T-bone incidents.
Brain damage, shattered bones, internal injuries, and back and neck problems are common among those who survive a T-bone crash. Rear-end collisions typically cause less severe injuries to persons on the impacted side of the car.
You can avoid getting involved in a T-bone collision by being more vigilant when driving through intersections, as most T-bone crashes happen there. It would help if you also looked out for trucks and larger vehicles as T-bone crashes involving heavy trucks may result in fatal injuries.
