[05-02-2022] 75-Year-Old Man Badly Injured After Assault Near San LeandroAccording to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, a 75-year-old man sustained injuries after being struck in the head with a skateboard near San Leandro on Monday, May 2.

The deputies were called around 8:00 p.m. to the 16200 block of East 14th Street in unincorporated San Leandro.

According to sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Ray Kelly, deputies discovered a 75-year-old man with injuries to his face and head.

According to Kelly, Rafael B., 26, was allegedly fleeing the scene and attempting to conceal a skateboard. Deputies easily apprehended Betancourt.

Kelly claims that Betancourt’s attack was unprovoked based on a piece of video evidence.

Kelly said the victim is in a serious condition in the hospital.

Betancourt was also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and elder abuse.
