[05-02-2022] Two People Injured in Head-On Crash Near LompocTwo people sustained injuries following a major two-vehicle crash on Highway 246 Monday morning, May 2, 2022.

The crash occurred at 6:32 a.m. near Campbell Road, halfway between Buellton and Lompoc.

One of the drivers was trapped inside the vehicle and required extensive extrication.

They were taken to Lompoc Hospital by ground ambulance after suffering major injuries.

The other driver was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department confirm that the head-on collision necessitated extensive extrication, with at least two people being taken to the hospital.

According to fire officials, two cats were also rescued from the vehicle.

The traffic was heavy in the area as first responders worked to clear the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
