Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Statistics
The consequences of these traffic collisions can be long-lasting or even lethal. The best way to avoid this is to drive safely.
Accidents involving motor vehicles are all too common in the United States, which is regrettable. There were 33,654 people killed in car accidents in the United States last year. Car accidents claimed the lives of more than 36,560 people throughout that year.
A multi-vehicle accident occurs when there are three or more vehicles involved in a collision. There is a high probability that they result from a “chain-reaction” crash, in which one vehicle collides with another, setting off a cascade of collisions.
It’s easier to blame someone else when there are several defendants and multiple parties involved. An accident victim may be left with no one to pay for their damages if they point the finger of blame. After a multi-vehicle accident, a skilled automobile accident lawyer must ensure that your legal rights are protected.
In this case, a big rig was involved in the collision. The economy cannot function without semi-trucks. Every year, the trucking industry in the United States transports billions of dollars worth of goods. Many big rigs on the road, unfortunately, cause hundreds of traffic accidents.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), big rig trucks’ fatality rate has increased by 30% since 2009. There were 4,102 traffic fatalities involving a big rig in 2017 alone.
