[05-03-2022] Fatal DUI Crash in Long Beach Results in One DeathAn unidentified 53-year-old man from Compton was killed after a fatal traffic crash involving a suspected DUI driver near Coyote Creek on Tuesday evening, May 3, 2022.

The accident happened at approximately 6:20 p.m. in the area of Willow Street near Coyote Street in Long Beach.

An SUV was traveling at high speeds on Willow Street when it rear-ended a 1995 GMC Yukon driven by the 53-year-old Compton man.

Due to the severity of the impact, the Yukon driver lost control of his vehicle and veered off the roadway, overturning before coming to a rest in a flood-control channel.

The GMC driver was unfortunately killed in the crash. He was initially rushed to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.

Authorities later determined that the SUV driver was under the influence at the crash. He was identified as 66-year-old Bryan G. The SUV driver was booked on suspicion of DUI and gross voluntary manslaughter. His bail was set at $100,000.

An active investigation of the collision is currently underway.
