[05-04-2023] Sacramento County, CA – One Killed, Six Others Hospitalized After Two-Vehicle Crash at Franklin Blvd and Calvin Rd

One person was killed, and six others were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash in Sacramento on Thursday afternoon, May 4, 2023.

The Cosumnes Fire Department Battalion Chief stated that two cars crashed at the Franklin Boulevard and Calvine Road intersection.

An Elk Grove police officer driving on Calvine Road reportedly noticed a stolen car. The driver sped away before they could pull them over. Due to traffic and the driver’s erratic behavior, they did not pursue the vehicle.

The driver crashed into another vehicle at the intersection, closing Franklin Boulevard between Bassett Way and Adalis Drive.

The four people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital for injuries, according to the Sacramento Police Department. A woman died due to her injuries, a man is in critical condition, and two minors are in critical but stable condition.

Three people were also taken to the hospital from the vehicle they hit. Two occupants are in critical but stable condition, while another suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
